dc.description	The paper is relevant to translators who lack experience in rendering the propositional meaning of lexical units, students as well as trainees interested in the field of translation, freelance translators and other specialists involved in translation. The subject matter of the thesis is the strategies applied to render the propositional meaning of lexical units when translating from English into Lithuanian. The problem question is what strategies are applied when rendering the propositional meaning of English lexical units into Lithuanian while translating popular economic literature. The aim of the paper is to identify the strategies used to render the propositional meanings of lexical units from English into Lithuanian while translating popular economic literature. The objectives of the research are as follows: 1) to theoretically define the propositional meaning of words as lexical units and the possible strategies to be used to render it; 2) to determine the translation strategies applied while rendering the propositional meaning of the English lexical units into Lithuanian used in the process of translating M. J. Sandel's What Money Can’t Buy. The methods used include: 1) analysis of theoretical sources to define the concept of the propositional meaning and identify possible strategies for rendering it; 2) descriptive comparative linguistic analysis to highlight the strategies used while translating popular economic literature into Lithuanian. The paper consists of two main parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part gives a review of the propositional meaning and the strategies of rendering it. Having analysed the arguments found in the theoretical works of Baker (2011) and Pažūsis (2014), the practical linguistic analysis was performed. The results of the linguistic study reveal the peculiarities of different scope of the meaning of lexical units and various methods of rendering it in translation.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	Tema aktuali vertėjams, turintiems mažai patirties perteikiant leksinių vienetų denotatinę reikšmę, studentams, taip pat asmenims, besidomintiems vertimu, laisvai samdomiems vertėjams ir kitiems vertimo specialistams. Darbo objektas yra strategijos, kurios naudojamos perteikiant denotatinę leksinių vienetų reikšmę verčiant iš anglų kalbos į lietuvių kalbą. Pagrindinė šio darbo problema – kokios strategijos yra naudojamos perteikiant anglų kalbos leksinių vienetų denotatinę reikšmę verčiant populiariąją ekonominę literatūrą į lietuvių kalbą. Darbo tikslas – atpažinti naudotinas strategijas, kuriomis perteikiama denotatinė leksinių vienetų reikšmė verčiant populiariąją ekonominę literatūrą iš anglų kalbos į lietuvių kalbą. Darbo uždaviniai: teoriškai apibrėžti leksinių vienetų denotatinę reikšmę bei strategijas, naudotinas perteikiant denotatinę reikšmę; aptarti vertimo strategijas, panaudotas perteikiant denotatinę leksinių vienetų reikšmę verčiant iš anglų kalbos į lietuvių kalbą. Darbo metodai: teorinių šaltinių apžvalga siekiant apibrėžti denotatinės reikšmės sąvoką ir galimas jos perteikimo strategijas; gretinamoji lingvistinė analizė, atskleidžianti naudotinas strategijas ir pagrįsta aprašymais bei originalo ir vertimo kalbos gretinimu verčiant populiariąją ekonominę literatūrą į lietuvių kalbą. Darbas susideda iš dviejų pagrindinių dalių: teorinės ir praktinės. Teorinėje dalyje aptariama denotatinė reikšmė ir jos perteikimo strategijos verčiant iš anglų kalbos į lietuvių kalbą. Apibendrinus Baker (2011) ir Pažūsio (2014) teorinius teiginius, atlikta lingvistinė analizė. Lingvistinės analizės rezultatai atskleidžia įvairių leksinių vienetų ypatumus ir metodus bei jų perteikimo strategijas verčiant.	en_US
