dc.description According to researchers Rosenblatt et al. (2015) in many countries, dental caries is considered one of the major public health problems. Milsom et al. (2008) argue that children who had dental caries in deciduous teeth , fall into a higher risk group for new carious lesions at a later age. Deciduous teeth formation and mineralization begins during the development of the fetus. "Maternal nutrition during pregnancy can affect fetal development, formation and mineralization, and can affect dental caries in children teeth" (Keiko, T., Yoshihiro, M., et al., 2012). The aim of the study is to analyze parents' knowledge of factors influencing early childhood tooth decay. Tasks of the research: 1. To substantiate factors influencing the occurrence of children's dental caries. 2. Describe children's oral and dental care and proper nutrition. 3. To determine the knowledge of the participants of the study on the factors influencing the formation of dental caries. Research methodology - research literature and questionnaire and analysis of its results. Subjects - parents with children under 6 years of age. The main and most important factors affecting the occurrence of caries in the teeth of children are bacteria, most commonly found in the mouths of children - Streptococcus mutans. Another factor is too late and inappropriate individual oral hygiene, which stimulates faster colonization and plaque accumulation of these bacteria. Also malnutrition (sugary drinks and food) or inappropriate eating habits, such as feeding at night. The fourth factor relates to the development of children's dental caries, such as the use of medications, for example, when they contain sugar. It is also influenced by the quality of mother's nutrition and the state of oral hygiene during pregnancy. Children's oral care should begin before the first teeth come out and should be cleaned with gauze. When the first tooth comes out, you should also include a soft toothbrush with toothpaste, toothbrush twice a day, at least 2 minutes, with circular and sweeping movements. Nutrition should consist of non-sugary foods or they should be eaten during the main meals and not between them. It is also necessary to avoid overnight meals. 6 The study showed that parents knowledge of the factors affecting the development of caries is not sufficient. Parents lack knowledge of child's oral care before teeth erruption, lack of interest in educational activities, and most parents do not know when to have their first child visit to dentist, as well as the subjects, did not know that their own oral health, their nutrition care could influence the health of the child's teeth. en_US
