dc.description	Work objective – reveal dental assistant‘s knowledge and expierience providing first medical help. Work tasks. Theoretically describe dental assistant‘s competences, describe the possibilities of first medical assistance in a dental office, reveal dental assistant‘s knowledge and experierence providing first medical help. Methodology of the study. In this work I analysed scientific literature and questionnaire survey. To evaluate dentists knowledge about emergency care, a quantitative study was conducted, the data collection method was chosen – an online survey. The study took place on the 26th of February 2019 until April 29th, 99 dentist assistants participated in the survey. The participants of the study were selected in a non-probabilistic random sample. The survey instrument – the questionnaire – consisted of 22 questions. In this work graphs are made using Microsoft Excel program. Work Results. Results of the study revealed, that the knowledge of dental assistants of how to provide first aid is insufficient. Such a conclusion could be made, only after analyzing the data of the questionnaire. Even 60 participants in the study, concluded that they needed to use emergency care in their jobs. Usually patients in the dental office, fainted, choked or had anaphylactic reaction. Less common conditions – seizures, asthma, myocardial infraction, epilepsy. The study showed that dental assistants have some knowledge of first aid but not enough. Lack of knowledge about the main symptoms of the disease. Many do not know what a normal healthy person’s pulse is. Also 42(42,4 percent.) dental assistants do not know the resuscitation algorithm, and only 33(33,percent.) respondents know how to hold their hands during chest clicks to make them effective. Also 47(47,5 percent) respondents did not know, what was Heimlock method was and what it was used for. This question can be concluded, that in case of choking, dental assistants would not provide appropriate assistance. Even 79 people think they lack knowledge of first aid. So after analyzing all the responses of the respondents, we can see that a significant part dental assistants are not competent to provide first aid.	en_US
dc.description.abstract	Kiekvienas odontologo padėjėjas turi savo teises, kompetencijas ir pareigas, kuriomis privalo vadovautis. Viena iš jų – žinoti būtinosios pirmos pagalbos teikimo pagrindus. Odontologo padėjėjas privalo atpažinti gyvybei pavojingas būkles, išorinius simptomus, tinkamai reaguoti į situacijas ir suteikti būtinąją medicinos pagalbą. Odontologijos kabinete naudojamos medžiagos, tokios kaip: vietiniai anestetikai, lateksas ir kitos medžiagos gali paveikti paciento sveikatą. Tai pat labai svarbus baimės aspektas patiriamas odontologinėje kėdėje, kuris gali sukelti ūmias būkles. Deramos žinios odontologijos kabinete dirbančios komandos, tinkami medikamentai, visi šie faktoriai gali sumažinti riziką atsitikti nelaimei. Teorinė darbo reikšmė - pateikta susisteminta mokslinės literatūros analizė apie pirmąją medicininę pagalbą, jos teikimą odontologijos kabinete. Pagal užsienio mokslinius straipsnius išrinktos būklės, kurios ištinka pacientus dažniausiai odontologijos kabinete ir išanalizuotos. Praktinė reikšmė – remiantis tyrimo respondentų pateiktais atsakymais, išanalizuoti odontologų padėjėjų žinias apie pirmąją medicininę pagalbą bei patirtį ją teikiant.	en_US
