dc.description	Description of the thesis. Nowadays, the issue of sustainability is rapidly growing, becoming fashionable. As environmental problems prevail in the world, the assimilation of cultures and the economic crisis is happening, sustainability becomes a tool in situations where these processes can either be stopped or slowed down. In order to prevent this, the principles of sustainability are used in tourism. The tourism industry applying the principles of sustainability seeks to reduce the impact of this activity on the environment in which the community operates, while at the same time trying to increase its economy. In order to ensure cooperation between these three aspects in tourism, it is necessary to assess its development potential. To do this, the current situation in the area needs to be analyzed to see where there is room for improvement. At the same time, the analysis of the situation will help to identify what measures need to be taken to develop sustainable tourism. The main problem of the thesis - Lack of sustainable tourism activities in Rokiškis district. The aim of the thesis - Evaluate sustainable tourism development in Rokiškis district. Objectives of the thesis: Analyze the concept of sustainable development, principles of sustainable tourism and preconditions for its development; Analyze the situation of sustainable tourism in Rokiškis district; Study the opinion of tourism specialists and the survey of visitors about the development of sustainable tourism; Provide recommendations for sustainable tourism development in Rokiškis district. Methods of the thesis - Analysis of scientific sources, questionnaire, interview, SWOT analysis. The structure - The thesis consists of 3 parts: theoretical, analytical and project parts. Theoretical part analyzes the scientific sources, distinguishes and describes the concept of sustainability, describes what is sustainable tourism and examines the situations of foreign countries, where the principles of sustainable tourism were used. The analytical part analyzes the current tourism situation in Rokiškis district, presents and describes the results of the research. The project part offers suggestions on how to develop sustainable tourism in Rokiškis district. The results/conclusions - After analyzing the answers of the research and the situation of tourism in Rokiškis district, it turned out that the principles of sustainability are used in it, but not in all areas. The tourism industry in the area suffers from a lack of cooperation between businesses and the absence of bicycle lanes and bicycles as a transport infrastructure. Resolving these problems will increase the number of visitors in the area, address the environmental issue and raise the economy of the district.	en
dc.description.abstract	Darnus turizmas yra labai populiari tema daugumoje valstybių dėl visame pasaulyje iškylančių ekonomikos, aplinkosaugos ir kultūros apsaugos problemų. Apžvelgus darnumo teigiamus aspektus galima teigti, kad tai yra naujas įrankis minėtoms problemoms išspręsti, kuris užtikrina dabartinių žmonių gerovę, tolimesnį, visapusiškai saugų vystymąsi bei pakankamą kiekį resursų ateities kartoms plėtotis. Būtent šios darnaus turizmo paskirtys suformuluoja tiksliausią sąvoką jam apibūdinti. Ją galutinai suformulavo Jungtinių Tautų bei Pasaulio turizmo organizacijos: ,,turizmas, kuris visapusiškai atsižvelgia į dabartinius ir būsimus poveikius ekonomikai, socialinei šalies būklei ir aplinkai; skiria dėmesį lankytojų, pramonės, aplinkos ir priimančiosios bendruomenės poreikiams.“ (UNWTO, 2010, p. 5, cit. iš Dagiliūtė, Bartkutė, 2014). Būtent šis organizacijų pateiktas darnaus turizmo apibrėžimas įpareigoja kiekvieną valstybę, kuri taiko darnumo principus savo šalies turistinėje veikloje, saugoti aplinką, kultūrą, atsižvelgti į vietinių bendruomenių norus bei kelti šalies ekonomiką.	en_US
