dc.description The theme of the thesis is topical as the sector of service is very important in most of the modern countries and regions – it takes a bigger part of GDP than the other sectors, and in this way, itcreates new employment. Having information about business environment and the factors affecting it, it is easier to foresee the possibilities to start a new business and the competitiveness of already existing companies as well as including the strategies for the future development. Problem of the thesis. Increasing competition in wood production and wood manufacturing service„s sector, constantly changing needs of the customers, modern technologies as well as the alternating conditions in the market force the companies to search the best strategies for the development of services. The problem of the thesis is expressed in the problematic question: what is the development potential of the services at UAB “Medis”? Object of the thesis – Service Development at UAB “Medis”. Aim of the thesis – Having researched the current situation at UAB “Medis”, to describe the development potential of service. Tasks of the thesis: 1. To accomplish the theoretical analysis of the services and the basic features of it. 2. To research the development of services on theoretical basis. 3. To assess the current situation at UAB “Medis”. 4. To foresee the possibilities to develop the services at UAB “Medis”. Methods of the thesis: analysis of scientific literature, analysis of statistical data, observation, analysis of documentation, a questionnaire, an interview, a comparative analysis, SWOT analysis. Structure of the thesis. The theoretical analysis of the services and the basic features of the development of service sector is accomplished in the first part of the thesis. The reasoning of the methods that have been applied in the thesis is presented in the second part of the thesis. It includes the situation analysis at UAB “Medis” that has helped to find out that there are many failures in the activities of the company. For this reason, it has been offered to develop the sector of manufacture: to manufacture doors, windows, wooden window sills, wood panelling, floorboards, terrace coverings. Moreover, it has been advised to offer new services, such as: consulting services, concerning the timber supervision, timber supervision services, furniture designing services, flooring services and product assembling services; to apply a proper system of specials offers and discounts for the customers; to change the opening hours; to improve the support and physical surrounding; to offer the payment with bank cards; finally, to qualify the personnel. en
dc.description.abstract Darbo tema aktuali, nes paslaugų sektorius daugumoje šiuolaikinių valstybių ir regionų yra labai svarbus – jis sudaro didesnę BVP dalį nei kiti sektoriai, taip pat sukuria daug darbo vietų. Turint informacijos apie verslo aplinką, taip pat ją lemiančius veiksnius, galima sėkmingiau numatyti tiek naujo verslo kūrimo galimybes, tiek jau veikiančių įmonių konkurencinę padėtį ir tolesnes plėtros kryptis. en_US
