dc.description Singing is a musical activity that not only forms and develops children's vocal skills, such as articulation, breathing and diction, but also musical talents. (Katinienė, Vaičienė, 2001). Musical activities are a universal tool for the entirety of a child‗s education. It enables the child to sense and observe beauty, interact with art and create, and as the variety of such activities is extremely broad, they can be classified as a distinct form of cognition (Rinkevičius, Rinkevičienė, 2006). Identification of the problem – Child‗s musical competencies are developed until the age of 9 by using appropriate activities, emphasizing singing. Is this musical sphere receiving adequate attention. The aim/goal of the paper – comprehensive opportunities for children to participate in musical activities. Subject of the paper – discuss singing as a factor influencing the development of a child‗s artistic competency. Objectives of the paper: 1. Provide substantial theoretical arguments to advocate for singing as a factor contributing to the development of a child‗s artistic competency; 2. Conduct research that would examine the effect singing has to child‗s artistic competency development, as well as analyse and present the results; 3. Plan and execute an educational project based on the research results. Research methods: ● an analysis of academic literature, the aim of which is to comprehend the effect that singing has to a child‗s artistic competency development, as well as psychophysical child‗s educational opportunities; ● a written survey (poll) designed to examine the parents‗ perspective on a child‗s artistic competency development. 8 Conclusions: The analyzed scholarly literature notes that singing allows to develop the entirety of children's artistic competencies, it is inseparable from rhythmics, artistic notions and interpretation. When singing, children free their imagination and creativity, as well as emotions. The psychophysical development of a child, accelerated by singing, shows improvement in rhythmic, singing, and the capacity of artistic understanding. The conducted quantitative study shows that parents pay little attention to the the development of children‘s artistic competencies. After carrying out the educational project both the children and educators were satisfied with conducted activities and the creativity of participating children. During the project children expressed their creativity through singing. Structure of the paper: this paper includes three chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to overview the existing literature regarding the topic of singing as a factor influencing the development of a child‗s artistic competency. The second chapter presents and systematizes the data of a quantitative study. The last chapter provides information regarding the educational project, which took place in a pre-school group at an educational facility en
