dc.description Relevance. Propolis works effectively against diseases. Propolis has antioxidant, antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anti-tumor effects, due to its chemical composition. Propolis can be used in therapy and be combined with antibiotics, ointments and other preparations. This helps to enhance their therapeutic effect and reduce the risk of side effects of medications (Gendrolis, 2010). The Silva, Rodrigues, Feas and Eestevinho (2012) research data shows, that the standard propolis extract has antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, against Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and against fungal Candida albicans. Objective of the research: determine the antimicrobial effectiveness of different quantities of propolis extract in different areas of Lithuania. Tasks of the research: 1) To justify the information found in scientific and subject-related literature about biological and chemical properties of propolis. 2) To research the antimicrobial activity of different quantities of propolis 3) To compare the antimicrobial activity of propolis from several Lithuanian locations. Methodology. The scientific and subject-related literature analysis about the biological and chemical properties of propolis. A qualitative microbiological research was carried out with different quantities and Lithuanian locations of propolis. Bacterial cultures selected for the study were exposed to different quantities of propolis (0,1 ml, 0,25 ml, 0,5 ml, 0,75 ml and 1 ml). After incubation bacterial colony was observed in those areas of the Petri dish with increased microorganisms colonies. A total of 25 samples of propolis extract were tested with reference cultures of microorganisms. Research data was documented by using Microsoft Excel 2016 program. Results and conclusions. Increasing propolis quantity in solutions increases its antimicrobial activity. The highest amount of propolis extract (1 ml) and all the investigated areas of Lithuania are antimicrobial exposed to all bacteria. The most intensive effect of propolis in propolis which was collected in Šakiai and it kills all microorganisms from 0,75 ml. Similar antimicrobial activity was of Šiauliai and Panevėžys propolis extracts solutions but in the 0,5 ml amount of propolis extract investigated by Šiauliai had a weaker effect on Klebsiella pneumoniae than on Panevėžys. The propolis extract, which propolis was collected from Kedainiai, was the weakest. en_US
dc.description.abstract Įvadas, kuriuo yra atskleidžiamas pasirinktos temos aktualumas ir apibrėžiami tyrimo parametrai. Literatūros analizė, kurioje atliekama mokslinės ir dalykinės literatūros analizė skirta teoriškai pagrįsti empiriniam tyrimui. Šioje dalyje aprašoma propolio istoriniai duomenys, sudėtis, biologinės ir cheminės savybės, antimikrobinis, antioksidantinis, priešuždegiminis, priešgrybelinis, priešvirusinis ir priešvėžinis propolio veikimas. Empirinėje tyrimo dalyje pateikiamas propolio ekstrakto paruošimas tyrimui, tyrimo metodologijos aprašymas, atlikto tyrimo rezultatai, jų analizė. Išvadose apibendrinama literatūros analizė, atlikto empirinio tyrimo rezultatai. Rekomendacijose aprašoma problemos sprendimo būdai. Literatūros sąraše pateikiama naudoti mokslinės ir dalykinės literatūros šaltiniai. Darbo apimtis: 38 puslapiai. Literatūros šaltiniai: 27. Lentelės: 7. Paveikslėliai: 2. en_US
