dc.description Relevance of the subject. Relevance of the topic. Recently, many new types of coconut oil have been found and that shows increasing demand as becoming popular wellnes product. Coconut oil is valuable comprehensively. It can be used for oral cavity, skin and hair care, also in food and biofuel production. Coconut oil cherishes human skin, accelerates healing processes of the wounds and also works antiseptically. Moreover, coconut oil protects the oral cavity from infections, reduces accumulation of plaque. Another advantage is that coconut oil is natural, ecological tool for daily care. Aim of the research: to evaluate coconut oil antimicrobic process. Objects of the research: 1. To discuss the submitted information in scientific literature about coconut oil active substances, ways of extraction and antimicrobial effects. 2. To determine antimicrobial effect of refined and unrefined coconut oil. 3. To review data of survey m about benefits of coconut oil usage in medicine amog healthcare specialists. Methods: 1. To analyze the submitted information about active substances of coconut oil, ways of extraction and antimicrobial effects of coconut oil. 2. Performed a qualitative coconut oil antimicrobial activity study including diffusion of the disks into stiff feding hangar. The activity of different coconut oil compared to the reference bacterial cultures was determined by measuring the diameter of the inhibition zones in millimeters. 3. Performed a quantitative survey method (using closed questions). 4. The data was processed with Microsoft office excel 2016 software. Results and conclusion. The qualitative microbiological study showed, that coconut oil can be characterized as sunstance with antimicrobic features. The most sensitive microorganisms are Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus, Candida albicans. The inhibitory zones of these microorgaisms reached 28 mm diameter. There is no difference of refined or unrefined antimicrobial action. The quantitative survey about benefits of coconut oil shown, that more than a half of respondents knew, that coconut oil characterized as a product with antimicrobial features. The coconut oil is most known as a product for skin maintenance. en_US
dc.description.abstract Baigiamajame bakalauro darbe buvo išsiaiškinta, ar kokosų aliejus pasižymi antimikrobiniu veikimu. Taip pat atlikta apklausa, kuria atskleidžiama sveikatos priežiūros specialistų žinios apie kokosų aliejų. Išanalizavus mokslinę ir dalykinę literatūrą, atlikus kokybinį mikrobiologinį ir kiekybinį apklausos tyrimus, pateiktos išvados ir rekomendacijos. Darbą sudaro įvadas, trys skyriai, išvados, rekomendacijos, literatūros sąrašas bei priedai. Darbo apimtis – 38 psl., 3 lentelės, 15 paveikslų, 33 literatūros šaltiniai en_US
