dc.description According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about 30 percent of people in the world suffer from sleep disorders. Insomnia is a disease that manifests itself as a sleep disorder, a loss of sleep duration, integrity or quality. Insomnia can occur despite adequate sleep conditions and affect the person's poor well-being during the day (Sakalauskaitė-Juodeikienė, E., & Masaitienė, R., 2018). The role of the pharmaceutical specialist and the doctor is important in the treatment of insomnia, but a number of residents do not follow the instructions given by doctors. Various causes are mentioned: fear of side effects of treatment, no symptoms of the disease, high cost of medicines, unavailability or absence of medicines (Memon, K.N. ir kt., 2017). Kaunas University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy Techniques program student Žydrūnė Barkutė presents a bachelor's thesis „Residents, who are using prescription medications, experience with overcoming insomnia“, which ai mis - indicate residents, who are using prescription drugs, experience with overcoming insomnia. Final paper supervisor doc. dr. Laimutė Jonaitienė. The goals: 1. Describe insomnia, the causes of its occurrence, the impact on quality of life, ways, means used to overcome insomnia. 2. To highlight the factors of non-compliance with the instructions of the physician, the role of the pharmaceutical specialist in providing the pharmaceutical service and the responsibility in the process of health of the person using the medication. 3. Determine residents, who are using prescription medications, experience with overcomig insomnia. In this work, the analysis of scientific and professional literature was carried out, by means of a questionnaire survey, to question 100 complainants of insomnia in the city of Skuodas and those who visited the pharmacy of X, to acquire prescription drugs to overcome insomnia. The study summarizes the gender, age, education, lifestyle of the respondents, the tools and drugs used to overcome the symptoms of insomnia, the attitudes of the population towards drug use, the relationship with the doctor and the service provided by the pharmaceutical specialists. The study showed that respondents were suffering from various chronic diseases and two thirds of them were suffering from chronic insomnia. Half of the respondents might have had a bad agenda, shift work, „sleeping“ at the TV, computer, sleeping on the day, one-fifth on active movement, sports in the evening, and one-third on smoking." Nearly half of respondents to the development of chronic insomnia may have been affected by disregard of sleep hygiene requirements. Respondents overcome insomnia by using a variety of chemical drugs, both sleeping pills and sedatives for short-term insomnia. Additionally, along with chemical drugs, less than half of respondents use nervous teas, physiotherapy. Three-quarters of respondents received information on drug use from a physician, a pharmaceutical specialist. dc.description.abstract Baigiamajame bakalauro darbe buvo paaiškinta nemiga, jos simptomai, priežastys, rizikos veiksniai. Aprašyti medikamentinis ir nemedikamentinis ligos gydymas. Tyrimo metu apibendrinta respondentų lytis, amžius, išsilavinimas, jų gyvenimo būdas, naudojamos priemonės ir vaistai, padedantys įveikti nemigos simptomus, gyventojų požiūris į vaistų vartojimą, santykiai su gydytoju bei farmacijos specialistų teikiama paslauga. Išanalizavus mokslinę literatūrą bei atlikus duomenų analizę, buvo pateiktos išvados. Darbą sudaro turinys, santrauka, įvadas, du skyriai, išvados, rekomendacijos literatūros sąrašas, priedai.
