dc.description Relevance of the topic. Studies show that breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer among women in almost all countries of the world (World Health Organisation, 2017). Although cancer affects all areas of life, it is believed that the psychological consequences of the disease last longer than physical ailments (Sąlyga et al., 2015). Due to treatment, its side effects, changes in communication with the surrounding people and other factors people with oncological diseases may become very emotional. The experienced emotions may be either positive or negative. Even though all emotions are a normal and natural human response, frequently experienced negative emotions can lead to psychological disorders that are associated with an increased risk of progression of the disease, reduced chance of recovery or even death (Conley et al., 2016). Therefore, it is very important to notice the altered expressions of patient mood and feelings in time and to provide them with the necessary psycho-emotional support and support within the scope of one’s own competence. Aim of the study: to evaluate emotions experienced by women with breast cancer during radiotherapy. Objectives of the study: 1) to describe in theory the emotions experienced by women with breast cancer and the reasons of their occurrence; 2) to find out whether radiotherapy has an effect on emotional and general wellbeing of women with breast cancer; 3) to identify the emotions that are experienced during treatment and the factors that help maintain positivity of women with breast cancer who are treated with radiotherapy. Research methodology: theoretical part of the study is based on the analysis of scientific literature. The study outcomes: The majority of women who participated in the study rated their current (at the time of treatment) emotional and general wellbeing as good or moderate and stated that their emotional and general wellbeing did not change during the period of treatment in comparison with the pre-treatment period (51%). Even though women experienced side effects of treatment (68%), it had no effect on their emotional wellbeing (68%). Women did not experience a feeling of reduced femininity (70%) or loss of self-confidence (65%). Communication (30%) and engagement into physical activities (24%) and favourite (22%) activities helped women to stay positive. Conclusions: The majority of women who participated in the study did not feel any effect of radiotherapy on emotional and general wellbeing. Most of the women who participated in the study felt positive emotions due to communication with their beloved ones and other people with oncological diseases, and engagement in physical activities and their favourite activities. en
