dc.description	Relevance. In today’s Lithuanian society a youngster needs to be able to rapidly adapt to the shifting, modernizing and challenging environment, where live communication and bond is becoming less common. Open work with youth, which only emerged in Lithuania in 2006 while having long-term tradition in West Europe, is devoted to those youngsters who are less motivated, have experienced social separation or risk or basically have less opportunities. However, there is still not enough analysis of this work form in the context of social work as well as social workers, acting in open youth centers. In order to uncover the activities of a social worker in an open youth center, it is important to hear the opinions and views on the carried out activities of social workers in the places devoted to the youth. Practical application. The results of the paper provide us with information about what activities are carried out by a social worker in an open youth center. Moreover, they give a possibility to discover the differences between activities implemented by the workers acting in the same open youth centers. The aim. To uncover the activities by a social worker in an open youth center. The subject. The activity of a social worker in an open youth center. The investigation question. What are the activities of a social worker in an open youth center? The method. A qualitative investigation. An unconditional target selection, a partly structurized interview. The investigated ones. Social workers who act in an open youth center. There were four workers interviewed from the same open youth center. The conclusion. In an open youth center a social worker provides youngsters and their parents with the needed information, together with the youngsters analyzes the problematic situations of their families, relationship and the whole environment as well as searches for effective solutions and mediates between the youngsters and their schools or work places. He also organyzes free alimentation, as well as the whole family’s provision with food products, clothes and footwear. He also might deal with organization of sociocultural activities, during which trips, tours and camps take place as well as help youngsters to do their homework, find extracurricular activities, hobbies or work and develops youngster’s social and personal hygiene skills.	en
dc.description.abstract	Šiandieninėje Lietuvos visuomenėje jaunuolis turi gebėti sparčiai prisitaikyti prie greitai kintančios, modernėjančios, iššūkių pilnėjančios aplinkos, kurioje gyvo bendravimo ir ryšio lieka vis mažiau. Atviras darbas su jaunimu, kuris Vakarų Europoje jau turi ilgametes tradicijas, o Lietuvoje pradėjo tvirtintis tik 2006 m., skirtas mažiau motyvuotiems, socialinę atskirtį ar riziką patyrusiems bei mažiau galimybių turintiems jaunuoliams. Tačiau ši darbo forma yra mažai analizuojama socialinio darbo kontekste kaip ir socialinių darbuotojų dirbančių atviruose jaunimo centruose nėra apstu. Siekiant atskleisti socialinio darbuotojo veiklą atvirame jaunimo centre, svarbu išgirsti socialinių darbuotojų nuomones, požiūrį į socialinio darbuotojo vykdomą veiklą jaunimui skirtoje įstaigoje.	en_US
